The ARTIST
and ARM the ARTIST
"We put your artwork in front of a wider audience... We get your images and ideas into the minds of others..."
After 25 years of experience in marketing, bridging the space between Manufacturers (my clients) and their Customers, I have learned that liking the product is essential. You cannot stand behind something you don’t believe. Building an awareness of the product and making that product easily accessible are keys to serving both the customer and the client.
Understandably, artists may not be comfortable with viewing their artworks as ‘products.’ The word product summons visions of factories, while art is the product of individuals. Being of an art background myself, (OCAD student of Experimental/Fine Arts) I understand this distinction. Having enjoyed longtime connections with artists and other cultural workers, I’ve a love and respect for the visual arts.
Conversations with artist friends who’ve expressed frustration and mistrust of online marketing – especially through the use of social media networks - sparked me to consider how I might help. With a great deal of digital marketing knowledge under my belt, there was no doubt that I could be of assistance. And so, here and there, I helped out. It soon became apparent that there were many beyond my close artist friends who might find themselves in the similar predicament of wanting to utilize contemporary means of exposing their work but were simply too afraid to – either because they didn’t understand it or because they just didn’t have time to learn how to do it. Naturally, artists are driven to work in their studios, they need time to create, and sitting at a computer all day would defeat their purpose.
So, it struck me that this is where I, with my years of experience in digital marketing, can be useful to others in a way that is meaningful to myself, as well. There is so much amazing art out there that is not reaching appreciative audiences. – ARM the ARTIST can do something about that.
